Our Story
Family-Owned. Community-Grown. Since 1963. Every business has a beginning, and ours started with a small lumberyard, a family's determination, and a vision for the future.
 
Humble Beginnings
Supreme Building Products began in 1963 when Harold Laws and his son-in-law, Paul Moore, founded a lumber business on Sparta Street in McMinnville, Tennessee. The early years were filled with challenges. Their original location was small, outdated, and far from ideal. Although the business was located near the railroad tracks, lumber shipments still had to be unloaded at Depot Bottom. But with hard work and determination, the family continued moving forward.
 
Building a Stronger Foundation
As the business grew, Paul's brother, David Moore, joined the company. Following Harold Laws' retirement, the Moore brothers took ownership and continued building Supreme's future. In 1980, they made a major investment, purchasing 10 acres along McMinnville's main bypass and constructing a new showroom, lumberyard, and warehouse. This move marked an important turning point and opened the door for future growth.
 
A New Generation, A New Vision
In the mid-1980s, the brothers expanded into the apartment business, eventually acquiring more than 300 units. In 1994, they decided to focus on their individual interests. Paul took over the apartment business, while David continued leading Supreme Building Products. The family tradition carried on when David's sons, Ryan and Reece, joined the company after graduating from college. Together, they helped bring new ideas, improvements, and opportunities for growth, including a 12,000-square-foot showroom addition, facility upgrades, and expanded delivery services. Their efforts helped Supreme earn recognition within the building supply industry while strengthening the business's commitment to its customers.
Ryan later pursued a career in law, eventually becoming a judge, while Reece continued working alongside David in the family business.

Today, David and Reece continue to lead Supreme Building Products, modernizing its operations and facilities while maintaining the values on which the company was founded. What began as a small lumber business has become a lasting part of the McMinnville community. More than six decades later, our foundation remains the same: hard work, family values, and a commitment to serving the people and community that have supported us along the way.
