A Family's Story

Today's Supreme Building Products began in 1963 when Harold Laws and his son-in-law founded a lumber business in McMinnville, Tennessee.  Their original Sparta Street location presented many challenges...  it was small, inconvenient, and rundown.  Although it was near the railroad tracks, the cars of lumber had to be unloaded at Depot Bottom.

As time went by, Paul's brother David Moore, who is now majority owner and company president, bought into the business. The retirement of Harold Laws left the Moore Brother to own and operate Supreme by themselves with a little money, but a lot of determination.  In 1980, they purchased 10 prime acres on the main bypass and built a new showroom, lumberyard, and warehouse.

In the mid-80's, the Moore Brothers decided to branch out and acquired over 300 apartment units.  With the multi-family housing division growing and the building supply business thriving, in 1994 the two brothers separated on friendly terms.  Paul took the apartment business and David took over the building supply.

Continuing the family tradition,  David's sons Ryan and Reece both joined the company after graduating college.  With sawdust in their veins, the brothers wasted no time.  Launching Supremes' larges growth initiative, they built a brand new 12,000 square foot showroom addition to an existing 60,000 square foot building.  This coincided with updating the fleet, making the 10-4 Delivery Service guarantee a reality.   Receiving national attention Reece brought buying lumber on the futures market to Supreme, and Ryan holds the prestigious honor of Young Retailer of the Year by the National Retail Hardware Association.  Few thought this once small lumber yard would ever become a Cinderella story that would rock the lumber industry through one family's passion for success.  Fewer believed it would become a business model for others to follow.  With Reece overseeing operations and finances and Ryan was spearheading sales and marketing, the Moore brothers not only complimented each other with their different strengths, they gave Supreme's customers good reason to smile.

Ryan soon found he had another passion, Law.  Ryan went on to study law and became a lawyer, then later on a Judge.

David and Reece continue to run the business and continue to modernize the systems and facility.
